So super excited to see GFD amongst South Africa’s finest musical talents this weekend!
Miss Lauren-Ashleigh Parks, Jimmy Nevis’s manager, will be wearing the black mesh Anna maxi dress at the SAMRO Wawela Music Awards this weekend! The awards are a gesture from the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) to recognize, award and celebrate all the composers, authors, lyricists and publishers who have lit up local and international stages, screens and airwaves with their talent.
The dress was last spotted on the beautiful model Karoelien for our Avant Garden Collaboration editorial photoshoot for Peter Magazine (this exciting magazine app is set to launch mid-July). The flattering and figure-hugging dress is available in navy, grape and black with lace and mesh variations from these Cape Town stockists – Journey, Cloak & Dagger and Lily’s Closet, and is also available for order.
We can’t wait to see LA rocking it down the red carpet – be sure to watch our social media feeds for updates and images!
Have you ever been to the Cape Town Diamond Museum?
I met with one of my GFD Ambassadors Anna Donkin (the absolutely gorgeous Mrs. SA Finalist) today to take a walk through the venue for the CANSA Fundraiser event – Fashion, Flavour and Art – happening on the 26 July. It will be at the Shimansky showroom and workspace in the clock tower at the V&A Waterfront, which also so happens to be the home of the Cape Town Diamond Museum!
I had never even heard about it, and what a pity – the place is absolutely stunning! The high level of security is understandable when you are housing some of the most beautiful jewels, including the “My Girl” diamond and the Ralph Lauren dress and Shimansky diamond necklace Charlize Theron wore in celebration of her Oscar win for the film “Monster”.
Walking through the exquisite passages of gems and tools was incredibly inspiring and we are really looking forward to seeing a few GFD pieces in amongst the glow! I have no doubt that the showcase event is going to be nothing but shining – especially seeing as though it’s for such a meaningful cause.

Gabriela Fraser Designs has been invited and will be showcasing some of her finest work at the Fashion, Flavour & Art exhibition at the Shimansky Museum in the Clock Tower at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday, 26 July 2014. The event has been organised by Mrs. SA Finalist and GFD ambassador, Anna Donkin, and is in support of CANSA. Various designer items will be auctioned to raise money for this worthy cause.

I was approached by Tegan, who after seeing my clothing on Facebook, requested we do a concept shoot with my newest designs. As this was a first for me, I got sewing away and what we came up with was a Dappled Beauty concept, spotted in an Autumn forest.
I met Zaynab Sadan at our first Dollhouse fashion show – Valley of the Dolls – and she has continually represented GFD in her exotic beauty, as seen here in amongst the trees surrounding the UCT Reservoir.
Theunis was my Fashion Photography and Creative Computing lecturer throughout my fashion studies. As part of our third and final year syllabus, we were required to plan & style a concept shoot for our individual self-expression Graduate range.
Derryn Lester is the first and most beautiful model I have yet come to work with. Here she is seen posing in amongst the live animals and insects in the greenhouse at Butterfly World, embodying the Jungle Fever mood.
A good friend and connection made through the industry. Jason Broderick uses his amazing talents to shoot model portfolios and test looks with my clothing!
